5-years-old and 7-months-old

Hello! Wow, I can't believe it has been 2.5 years since my last post. So much has changed since then! Niko is now a 5-year-old preschooler! He loves school, friends and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He's a sweet, kind boy, with an intuitive personality. Another big change is that he has a new sister, Mila Andrea born April 16, 2014! Mila is 7 months! She is full of smiles and loves to laugh at big brother. She is sitting, scooting and loves eating veggie puffs, but won't dare take a bottle, ever! They already have a sibling relationship that is so unique and special. I am a stat-at-home mom now, and do some freelance design work when I can. I love being home with my babies, and am so thankful to have such a loving, supportive husband who supports our new lifestyle with me at home. I'm not sure what this blog will become now, I just thought it would be nice to say a quick hello after such a long absence!

2 years and 8 months

From 2011 to 2012 Merry Christmas, Happy New Year,  Happy Valentines Day, Happy Easter and so on!

It's been over 6 months since my last post, the longest I've ever gone without posting! It's definitely time to update the blog.

It's been a fabulous past six months!  Most fabulous has been watching Niko grow, learn, and develop quite a personality. Second, had to be when Baba and Djedo Saulovic came to visit over the Christmas and New Year Holiday. Also high on the fabulous list was the week long vacation Marko and I took to the island of Curacao sans Niko.

and here is a little bit about our little man:
1. He's two and 8 months! I can't believe how fast twos are going. :(
2. He's still blonde but his hair is getting darker in the back.
3. He's almost completely potty trained, he still wears a diaper at bedtime and during naps.
4. He does not like nighttime "me no like night time, me like morning time!" This makes bedtime very difficult, however, we are learning to negotiate and it's going much better now. If his light is on and door is open he will fall asleep on his own.
5. Bath time is NOT a favorite, because that means a possible hair wash which he despises. Lucky for him, he doesn't bath every night because it flairs up his eczema.
6. He does love his mornings and is an early riser :( I am not. His first request is to go to the couch to watch Peppa Pig or Dora.
7. He loves all things with wheels. He especially loves to ride his radio flyer tricycle (mom scored that one at Once Upon A child for $25!) He can maneuver it like he's been riding for years. He also loves lawnmowers (the real ones and toys), his wagon, harley trike and grocery carts (play ones and real ones).
8. He loves going to his gym class "My Gym" but is a bit timid to try some of the exercises and he would never pass up a trip to the bounce house place called "Monkey Joes"

9. He doesn't like to eat much. He rarely eats a nice breakfast, he prefers lunch, dinner time is not a favorite of his either. I really hope this changes soon!
10. He's very observant, and can remember places he's only been to once before and will talk about it forever after.
 11. He loves to talk and we can have complete conversations with him. He's not speaking a lot of Croatian, but he understands everything Marko says to him.
12. He's so cute, sweet, cozy, and when he says. "I wuv eww mama." I melt.

And a little look into the past 6 months:

Niko's Big Boy Room
We gave Niko's room a makeover. He loves it and we love the extra space for cuddling with him on his new big boy bed! I submitted his room on to apartment therapy and it actually made it on their site, check it out here

I had a great time going through some of my dad's old toys to decorate Niko's room.

It was awesome to spend the Christmas Holiday with Djedo and Baba!
Christmas at the zoo with Baba! It was a chilly night
and according to Niko, worth the very long wait to ride the zoo train.

Christmas at Great Grandpa Weber's house with Baba and Djedo.

February 2012
Niko's first Colt's Game

Niko lasted until the first half, then got antsy so we took off early.

Although the Colts did not do well this year, by by Peyton, Indianapolis did host the Super bowl. We went down for some pre Super Bowl festivities.

Very happy about his tattoo from the NFL experience!

Niko had fun with friends over the past 6 months. Here are a few shots...

26 months

Hello, wow, again so much time between posts, 3 months to be exact. I am a lousy blogger.

First, Niko is 2 years old! He turned 2 two months ago and I'm just now blogging about it! Isn't that sad?

Niko is a sweet little boy, but he can also show his "terrible" twos :-) He's known to throw a good ol' grocery store tantrum. It doesn't help that stores put candy everywhere and just in reach for kids! We don't eat out a lot and if we do it's pizza that we have pre-ordered and we've found Chick-fil-A is a good place to go on Saturday nights, if only they served wine! Most the time he wants things his way, and a few times he's gone to his room for a time out. We typically go to bed exhausted, but I will say it's worth it, especially when he gives those sweet hugs and kisses and comes running up to say "HI GUYS!" He's such a cuddle bug in the morning, that's my favorite time with him. He's not a great sleeper these days. Marko and I believe that he's just so excited about life that sleeping is not something he enjoys at all! Putting him down to bed at night can sometimes be very difficult. Also, he's in a toddler bed now! It was quite sad to put the crib away, but we didn't want any late night trips to the E.R. considering he was sort of jumping out of the thing. He loves trains, play-dough, and riding his battery powered quad. He can be difficult to understand, but he talks a lot! He still doesn't want to say his own name on a regular basis. He mostly refers to himself as "BABY" when he does say Niko, it sounds more like "Nicknack". Maybe he doesn't like his name!? He understands Croatian but responds mostly in English. It's amazing to see Niko and Marko communicate in Croatian. Niko officially understands more Croatian than I do!

It's been an eventful past 3 months! Here are some highlights.

A very happy Baba and Djedo!

We made our second trip to visit Baba, Djedo and our family and let me just say it was quite an experience. Our time there was great, but getting there and back was not so much fun. I think I could devote another blog to international travel with an infant/toddler, but I can't keep up with this one so that's out of the question. To make it short and not so sweet the plane ride included tears, bites, bruises, spilled milk (That is spilled milk on passengers.), throw-up, and a few tantrums. The time in Croatia was wonderful, Niko loved it there. Some of his favorite parts was Djedo's boat, Smiley at the Mini Disco, ice cream cones, and playing with his cousins! I was surprised that he didn't want to go to the beach much at all. Hurricane Irene even gave us a few extra days there since our return airport in Philadelphia was closed on our original return date.
Radovics & Saulovics

so nice....

Niko slept for 1 hour in a 20 hour period, here it is. We built him a tent on the seat.

We kept Niko's birthday party a low key family affair again this year. We had to cancel our first attempt to throw him a party because he was sick. Postponing his party gave Mama a little more time to play around with cake decorating. Since Niko loves trains, I built a train engine, car and caboose. I must admit, I was impressed with myself and he was extremely happy with it! Next year cake? We'll see.
Happy Birthday Niko!

Zoo and Pizza with Buddy, Eli!
We had a great time with the Shumakers at the zoo. Eli is such a cutie, we love watching these two together. We had a great tine at the zoo and also went out for pizza one night.
Waiting for their pizza!

Mama's work travels and back to my roots!

I wasn't able to spend lots of time with Niko in September and early October because of work trips. It was sort of nice to get away, especially on our trip to San Diego, but missing Marko and Niko doesn't make it something I'd like to do all the time. First stop was San Diego, then on to Tennessee, and finished up in Kalamazoo.

Torrey Pines State Park, San Diego area

I'm a painter by heart and it's been a while since I've held a brush, actually I haven't painted since before Niko was born. That was until this past August when I did this small oil landscape of The Zupa area near Dubrovnik, Croatia. I gave it to Croatian friends as a belated wedding gift. I need to brush up on my skills, but it felt good to get back to my roots. Hope to paint again soon.

I love fresh apples, soup, and a nice comfy sweater this time of year. I'm not sure why, but Halloween is one of my favorite Holidays. I think it must be the black cats I like so well. Niko was an adorable Thomas (the train engine). As I mentioned, he loves trains and picked this costume all by himself! We did a little trick-or-treating. Check out the video HERE!

Now well into October whenever we go somewhere Niko knocks on the door and says "Trick or Treat!"

First time apple picking.

First trick-or-treating experience at Bill and Jen's house!

With the cold weather coming up, Niko burned some energy at "My Gym"
a gym for toddler and young kids. He loved it

I know I'm missing a lot from the past few months, but those are the highlights. Until next time, whenever that may be. :-)
